I’m trying to find a balance.
Work, Life and health.

In February I set myself a goal to do 15,000 steps a day. From someone who sits at a desk 5 days of the week it was hard enough getting to 5K a day let alone 10K. But I was determined and found I can be quite competitive against myself.

The reason behind this might seem strange to some but to me it was game on!
I wanted the next lifetime fitness badge and I wanted this sooner than later.

Working out how long it would take me to get the Great Barrier Reef badge for 2,574km in distance was calculated to be achieved on the 1st April 2016. My goal was to get it by March and then once I started I wanted to get this by February. And so you can read my first sentence again. I set my goal at 15,000 steps. Now for the most part this actually was achieved in some way I’m glad I was able to challenge myself to seeing what I can handle. Downside but – my feet were hurting more especially on days when I was a good 6-8K away from 15,000. Lots of walks down my street were happening.

So working out the above table 10/29 days I failed to make my intended goal but when you achieve 417,681 steps over the whole month of February based on the 290,000 recommended (10,000 steps per day) being 127,681 steps up is something I can accept as an achievement. Another one being that this was completed on the 22.02.16 seven days before the end of the month!

So this brings me into March… feeling rather run down from the last month I decided to use March as a means to work out how most people who don’t focus on exercise and fitness compare to someone who wants to maintain a more active lifestyle. In other words just me finding an excuse as to why I have not picked up my game and continued in reaching my goal.

And so lazy March began – please keep in mind this is dated till present date of 21.03.16 and most likely will not alter much over the remaining days of this month by much.

So going off the above you can see that the difference is just so vast, it’s really surprising to see. At 10,000 steps per day counting up till the 21.03.16 you would want to be looking at 210,000 if I kept up the exercise.

So far even with today still calculating I’m looking at needing 96,721 more steps to get to 210,000! These two months look more like someone who exercises and someone who just sits around all day – honestly the march one reminds me of what I used to be like and isn’t appealing to me at all now.

So now comes the part where I just need to find a balance between both months.
February: 15,000 is a hard goal to maintain. You feel lethargic and your feet hurt more than you think they would.
March: Get off my ass more and move around. Try and maintain that 10,000 a day step count that will along with the gym my insomnia. Tire yourself out girl!

So my goal for april is:
-          10,000 steps a day or more
-          Achieve an average of 8.1km
-          Eat healthier – which is slowly happening
-          Do more weekend walks/runs
-          Be outdoors more even with winter coming

Now to see if I can live up to my words.
